Announcement 

I, Vince McCoy, have decided to run as your candidate for Lee County Sheriff. 

The citizens of Lee County deserve the very best protection and services from their Sheriff’s office. Being a member of this community and county, I feel I have an obligation to create a positive change for law enforcement in Lee County.

I pledge to you that I will return the office of the Sheriff back to the citizens of Lee County and drastically improve the level of service you are currently receiving.

I have been a commissioned peace officer for 13 years and have achieved both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. I hold the commission level of a master peace officer as well as police officer instructor.  I proudly served the citizens of Lee County as a deputy and as an investigator under the direction of the late Sheriff Joe Goodson. I am currently employed as a Sergeant with the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the Law Enforcement Division.

My current duties include but are not limited to: investigation of major and violent crimes; capital murder, murder, robbery, burglary, and sexual assaults; and theft and embezzlement cases. I have conducted these investigations throughout the state of Texas.

I bring to the county my analytical and organizational skills, my ability to achieve goals, objectives and futuristic visions - both short and long-term - of law enforcement for a better quality of life for all citizens of Lee County.

► I will build partnerships with all county emergency agencies, local school officials, city, county governments and civic organizations to increase and maintain citizen confidence levels. I will implement monthly meetings between all emergency agencies to discuss proactive approaches to issues affecting the citizens of Lee County. I will hold quarterly town hall meetings in various places throughout the county, affording citizens the ability to voice concerns and suggestions about the Sheriff’s office as well as giving citizens the ability to influence the direction of the office.

► I will implement a sex offender check program that not only ensures that all offenders register but a program that also closely monitors the offender’s neighborhoods and places of employment. I will increase patrol visibility by encouraging deputies to increase traffic enforcement on all major thoroughfares. This will also create much needed revenue for the county and lessen the burden on taxpayers. I will ensure that increased patrol activity will be conducted during peak criminal activity times of the day and week. I will ensure that the response time to a citizen’s complaints is reduced.

► As Sheriff, I will manage a very proactive and professional law enforcement organization that is dedicated to the communities’ needs by crime intervention and prevention. I will unite all emergency agencies to optimize services including insuring that all agencies have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with each other. I will ensure that the county jail is utilized as it was intended and recruit outside entities to house prisoners at the facility that will create revenue. I will provide Sheriff’s office personnel with required equipment and training that will best serve Lee County and its citizens. I will join task forces that combine local and state resources as a service to citizens.

My strategic plan will focus on innovative community-oriented policing strategies directed towards proactive policing. This constitutes, but will not be limited to: aggressive attacks against organized criminal activity, narcotic activity, domestic violence, crimes against children and property crimes.

I will create a reserve deputy program which increases law enforcement resources at no cost to taxpayers.
